Wedding checklist: 2 months before

Two months out, invitations go in the mail and the replies start coming back. Everything that depends on the headcount, the seating chart and the menu, starts now as a draft and gets final once the RSVPs are in.

The 8 tasks for 2 months before

  1. Mail invitations

Mail invitations six to eight weeks out, with a clear RSVP date.

  2. Track RSVPs

Log every reply as it comes, with meal choices and dietary needs.

  3. Create seating chart draft

Start a draft with the replies you have; it gets final the last week.

  4. Confirm menu with caterer

Lock the menu, the dietary options and the service style.

  5. Finalize ceremony & reception schedules

Agree on the ceremony and reception times with the venue and officiant.

  6. Order signage & décor

Order welcome signs, table numbers and the rest of the paper decor.

  7. Begin final beauty treatments

Start any skin, hair or teeth treatments that need weeks to show.

  8. Purchase wedding party gifts

Buy thank-you gifts for the wedding party and parents.

These are the tasks in the “2 months before” group of the free wedding checklist. Put in your wedding date there and each one gets its own due date, with anything already late marked overdue.

What should already be done

This stage leans on these. If one is still open, do it first.

And the rest of the earlier groups: 12+ months before, 10-11 months before, 8-9 months before, 6-7 months before, 4-5 months before, 3 months before. Anything left over can still be caught up.
