Wedding checklist: 8-9 months before
Eight or nine months out, the second wave of vendors opens up. Florists, bakers and hair and makeup artists book up later than venues and photographers, but popular ones still fill their dates months ahead.
The 7 tasks for 8-9 months before
Book florist
Book once the venue and look are settled; florists quote from both.
Choose bakery & tasting
Taste a few bakers and book one, unless the caterer makes the cake.
Reserve hair & makeup
Reserve your artist for the day; the trial comes later.
Select lighting & décor
Decide what the venue provides and what you'll rent or make.
Research transportation options
Work out who needs moving between places on the day, and what that costs.
Plan honeymoon travel
Book flights and stays early, and check passports and visas.
Begin designing invitations
Start on the design now so printing isn't rushed.
These are the tasks in the “8-9 months before” group of the free wedding checklist. Put in your wedding date there and each one gets its own due date, with anything already late marked overdue.
What should already be done
This stage leans on these. If one is still open, do it first.
- Choose wedding date (12+ months before)
- Book ceremony & venue (12+ months before)
- Decide theme & style (12+ months before)
And the rest of the earlier groups: 12+ months before, 10-11 months before. Anything left over can still be caught up.
