Wedding checklist: 3 months before
Three months out is the last calm stretch. The personal pieces belong here: the songs, the rings and your vows, which are easier to write with weeks to spare than the night before. It's also when to check your marriage license rules, so there are no surprises later.
The 7 tasks for 3 months before
Mail save the dates
The last safe moment to mail them, if they haven't gone yet.
Schedule second dress fitting
Book the second fitting once the first alterations are done.
Create song list
Pick the must-plays, the do-not-plays and the ceremony music.
Plan wedding favors
Decide whether you're giving favors, and order them if you are.
Start writing vows
Start now; it's much easier with weeks to spare.
Purchase wedding rings
Order the rings now, leaving time for sizing and engraving.
Finalize floral arrangements
Confirm the bouquets, centerpieces and ceremony flowers with your florist.
These are the tasks in the “3 months before” group of the free wedding checklist. Put in your wedding date there and each one gets its own due date, with anything already late marked overdue.
What should already be done
This stage leans on these. If one is still open, do it first.
- Book entertainment (12+ months before)
- Decide theme & style (12+ months before)
- Order save the dates (10-11 months before)
- Collect guest addresses (10-11 months before)
- Book florist (8-9 months before)
- Schedule dress fittings (6-7 months before)
And the rest of the earlier groups: 12+ months before, 10-11 months before, 8-9 months before, 6-7 months before, 4-5 months before. Anything left over can still be caught up.
